O.o I can fix my hair?!

I’m a terrible blogger, I know. Here I’m posting this link everywhere little Rini has a profile, and I have three or four backed-up posts that need to be written. I mean, I haven’t even talked about the Hair Fair, and let me tell you, I spent a lot of time and money there. *giggle*

But if you’ll forgive me for skipping over all of that, I just had to mention this awesome tutorial by Linden Lifestyle’s Salome. She gives you a step-by-step guide to tweaking your hairstyles - not just fitting, mind you, but actually de-volumizing and fixing it on a prim-by-prim basis. My hero!

Beaded Elegance - and textures!

After a hectic week bent over a keyboard, I’ve finally finished upgrading the color-changing scripts for my line of shoes. Now new and improved, the scripts let you not only change the color of every part of the shoe individually, but re-texture just as easily! I’ve built in a number of freebie presets, or you can always use your own copyable textures - and even save them to the preset list for easy swapping in and out!

I also put together a number of cute little gadgets for my booth at the Shoe Wars - only to discover that I wasn’t allowed scripts! Ah well, plan B: The Gimp. *grin* In the meantime, I’m storing up my gadgets (including a comment collector and a working demo of the color and texture-changing script) to display on my new build, once I get it up and running.

And so, with the Shoe Wars starting in less than 24 hours, it is time to release my new favorite design: Beaded Elegance. Simple, classy, elegant. I love it. *grin*

Go check out the demo! You can purchase your own at 25% off during the Shoe Wars, or at regular price from my stall at Desirae Designs, or online at SLBoutique. Is that enough options for ya? ;-)

I Have A Store!

GND at Desirae Designs

That’s right, after only a year and a half of playing Second Life, I have finally created something fit for me to wander around the grid in. And if it’s fit for me, I figure I might as well give everyone else a chance at it, too. ;) Available now at Girl Next Door or via SLBoutique: three styles of female shoes, all fully recolorable via a script.

Check them out now, or see them at the Shoe Wars in early April.

And with that, I’m going to bed! *grin* I’m a creator, ain’t it great? ;-)

Like Cats & Dogs

Tiny Rini & Toby

Well, I’ve finished up my shopping spree (at least, I hope I have, since my Linden balance is now exactly L$0…). *grin* First with dropping $1500 on new jewelry at Firsties Prims, and then… then I went to Pawaii.

I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a tiny av for a while, so when I logged on last night, I tried a quick Find on ‘tinies’, just to see if I might run across something I like. Fairly high on the list, I saw D&D Dogs. I remember them, that’s the store that made those adorable little dogs many moons ago. You could buy tricks to teach them in-world, and they sounded absolutely precious, though I was always too stingy to actually buy one. I wonder what’s new with them… Teleport!

The next thing I know, I’ve purchased this adorable little scottish terrier (I named him Toby) and I’m busily dragging him around the store, testing out the built-in “sit” and “stay” commands. Incidentally, I’m none too impressed with the sit. All it appears to be is a rotation in place, so you end up with the poor puppy’s legs sticking up in the air. The stay feature is nice, however (and critical for posing with your puppy).

So L$500 poorer, I move on to the courtyard and make my way to the ExtroVirtual booth. Aha, tinies. The original tinies, the sign informs me. Ooooh, this must be the place to buy, then. L$350 isn’t too bad for an avatar, after all. Let’s see, in addition to the full-size furries and mermaid tails, we have pony avatars (which I’ve seen around the grid - very cute), and a wide selection of animal tinies, ranging from the usual cats and bears to a more exotic collection, including hippos, penguins, koalas, and even kangaroos! I may go back for a “fun” tiny or two, but for now, I settled on this nice gray kitty. Seems to fit me, don’t ya think? ;)

And now I’m off to teach my first class as a tiny - and by doing so, hopefully pay for the purchase. … Or more likely, pay for the tiny accessories that I’m sure will follow. *grin*

Oh, P.S. The information that comes with the tinies says “Don’t even try to dance.” *giggle* Well, for some animations, it works fine. But they weren’t kidding. Some of those dances really do qualify as animal abuse

Primmed Lashes… with Diamonds?!

Diamond-tipped prim lashes by Lynnix

Now, I remember finding the prim eyelashes by Lynnix. I even went out and bought a pair! It’s an interesting concept, improving eyelashes by the way of prim attachments. It seems like such a silly thing to add, but they’re actually rather cute.

True, they aren’t necessarily meant for everyday wear, but when you feel like glamming it up, there’s something to be said for Lynnix’s little creation. I do recommend making an alternate shape with your eyelash slider turned all the way down in appearance mode, though. The Linden lashes tend to overlap and make your Lynnix attachments look more like facepaint than eyelashes. As it is, it’s a bit unnerving to see your character blink without moving her eyelashes - and if you have the Avatar Smile attachment from Pixel Mode, there will be a slight inconsistency in the alignment when you smile - but overall, the effect is minimal.

In any case, today I saw a forum post advertising these new diamond-studded prim lashes. Going too far? Who’s to say? You’ve got to admit they’re interesting, at the very least.

Feelin’ funky!

Feelin' Funky!

Spent a little of my hard-earned teacher’s pay today and bought a funky new skin for grins. It’s Varla, from Canimal, and the original was a normal skintone with the dark tattoos… but the tone wasn’t quite right for my usual, so I decided to funk it up a little. *chuckle* Throw in the amazing colorable hair from Lashed, and my little avie sure does get attention. :-p
